The cross country season got into full swing with the first individual event of the season at Wandin Park. On a lovely cool, sunny day, SMACers were out in force. With 25 men, 16 women and 5 quality juniors, the club was well represented.
Welcome to newbies Adronis Ndihokubwayo, Clovis Mpundu, Warren McVean, Greg Walters, Julie Boyd, Alanna O’Brien, Claire Broadway and Gus Bowes in the U14s. Also welcome back after a five year break, former multiple club champion Andrew Demetriou. Great to have you all on board!
On the Premier Women’s front congratulations to our World XC Championship representative Anna Kelly, who scored a superb win in the women’s 6k race. Also well done Jayne Grebinski Briggs who finished in 6th position overall, and Julie Boyd who finished 6th in her age group.
Top men’s performances came from Michael Rathjen and Adronis Ndihokubwayo, who finished 63rd and 101st in a very competitive field.
For the juniors, congratulations to silver medallists Ramen Nayar (U16 boys) and Maxine Paholek (U20 women). Great results!
Well done everyone who came along, especially the injured Bron, Jac, Ingrid and Aaron. The support of non-runners is always appreciated. Now on to Cruden Farm for the next round in two week’s time!
